"ESOTERIC INITIATION"

The Transcendence of the Ego

The Internal Contemplation

THAT which has a "Sense" of Existence, which is "Perceived" (which is "Perceived" in general and not some "content" of Perception), has no Properties, nor does it depend on any "content" of Perception. It has an Infinite Depth that is Approached only Experientially and in the Absolute Silence of Perception, as "THAT IS". We Call It Consciousness. The term is from the Ancient Hellenic "Syn+Oida". It means: I know well that, I have full knowledge, I feel something inwardly, I recognize. All the words mean pure knowledge (as possibility) and not knowledge of some "object". In other words, knowledge refers to the Inner Existence, it concerns the Inner Existence and not an external knowledge (of some "object"). So, we are talking about a Knowledge that is Spontaneous, from the Inside from the and Unobstructed, an Objective Knowledge. What does this Knowledge "contain"? Only Self-awareness, no other Quality or Attribute. What is said is redundant reporting, a descriptive approach, far removed from experiential experience.

What It Perceives is True Knowledge, the Basis of Knowledge, upon which any Objective Perception or Subjective Conception is "Built". We have talked about the "Varieties" of Consciousness.

Consciousness (as we define it here) is itself a Supreme State, Superior to any other state. It "contains" every other state, supports any state but is not completely "identified" with it. We want to say that any other situation is Contained in the Principle, Supported and Dependent on it. At the same time it is a Holographic State of the All as it is In Power of the All and can "Evolve" into the All.

We have mentioned many other times the example of White Light Containing Infinite Radiations (which Perception roughly "Distinguishes" into "Colors"). It relates to all but is absolutely identical with none. On the other hand, any Radiation is potentially White Light.

What do we mean by all this? That we can See the Whole upon Which Any Situation is "Built" (which is but a "Construction") or we can See Distinct Situations. This "leads" to different "Perspectives" of Reality.

In the Esoteric Tradition we have always (for thousands of years) spoken of the Supreme State and limited perception. If we See from the Perspective of Reality then Reality Is One, It is Always Here, It Works and needs absolutely nothing to "make it happen". We live in reality. Any other, limited perception, is but a "distortion" of the perception of Reality, a blurred image of Reality, another "reality", (which must necessarily be "dissolved" for Reality to Emerge in all its Glory).

What some people experienced, empirically, leads to a theoretical knowledge, to a "theory of reality".

An example is Advaita Vedanta. In Advaita it has always been emphasized that the Approach to the Absolute must be done Experientially, in the absolute silence of perception. The theoretical understanding of "One Reality" is not Reality. The “One Reality” we perceive is nothing but a “perception”. And this is completely different and far from the Truth. One who theoretically understands that Brahman Only Exists, that He is Brahman, does not mean that he is Brahman, He does not experience all this, he simply "perceives" it. This may "calm" the dual mind, but it is not Reality.

In Buddhism, from the Buddha's Original Teaching to Madhyamaka, Yogachara, Chan (Zen) and the other Schools of Teaching, they have always avoided talking about the True Background of Existence (the Asamskrita) precisely so that it would not be idealized, do not become a theoretical concept. They were always limited to "dissolving" the relevant considerations of Reality. Only then could Reality be Experienced. Speaking "psychologically" this "process" (or the cessation of processes that distort perception) is experienced as Liberation, as Enlightenment, as Emergence into Reality. Why? Because Perception is liberated, becomes Unobstructed, becomes Objective, and Manifests Reality As It Is.

So, how can the limited perception, the subjective view, the egoic view of Reality be overcome?

As we said above about the Perspective of Reality, all the "syntheses" of perception, all the "constructions" of intelligence must simply be "dissolved" and Nature, Objectivity, restored.

But someone who is trapped in a particular perception has a completely different perspective of Reality, experiences an "other reality". For the limited mind a total perception of Reality cannot be established. The "limited" always feels that there is the "Outside", the Wider, the "Comprehensive". This " Comprehensive" cannot be grasped, become the "content" of perception because then it becomes an idea, something false.

So, how can one be freed in this case? Not by actions of limited perception or by procedures or practices or disciplines. All roads are dead ends.

Whether one Realizes it or not, one must "Accept" one's Objective Existential Basis (even if one does not "perceive" it), understand that all the perceptual mechanisms one uses distort reality, and detach from all such processes. After all, all Real Practices, such as Meditation, Yoga, Contemplation, Nepsis (It means wakefulness or watchfulness), have no other goal than to lead to the silence of perception (or more correctly to the dissolution of the mechanisms of interference in perception). In stillness, quietness, silence of thought, in the dissolution of egoic perception, Perception Becomes Objective, Reality Emerges, Truth is Experienced.

There is no other way.
